On Tuesday, 31 May, a group of 15 Gladstone High School students, accompanied by two staff members, travelled on the Crystal Brook Community Bus and Mr Bosch’s car to Port Pirie for knockout hockey. The competition took place at the hockey complex. Four schools were in attendance, Whyalla High School, Samaritan College, St Mark’s and Gladstone High School. GHS played three games of hockey on the day. The first game was incredibly competitive, with Francis Venning an iron fortress in the goals. Despite Francis’ valiant attempts, the other team scored a goal in the dying seconds of the game resulting in a loss of 1-0. The second game was played against Whyalla High School and also resulted in a disappointing 1-0 loss for GHS. The third game was played against Samaritan College, the strongest of the teams.  Samaritan College defeated us 2-0, despite everyone on the GHS team playing very well. The students finished out the day with a welcomed visit to Maccas. Thank you to all the students who participated and to Stephen Bosch and Ali Gulin for helping organize and run the day.
