PRINCIPALS REPORT
Thank you to the parents and community members who attended the Governing Council AGM last week. A couple more parents have since volunteered to be part of this important group. We still require two more parents to join and I encourage anyone who may be thinking about it to ask what is involved and volunteer to help in this group.
The welcome rain and cold weather have seen many students wearing long pants, and I encourage parents and students to take note of the current uniform policy. One to particularly note is pants should be navy blue. Several students are wearing grey pants at the moment. Currently, they are not part of the uniform; however, if that is a desired change then it is essential to let Governing Council and student leaders know as the uniform policy is due for review this year.
We are currently experiencing significant absences both from staff and students for various reasons, including different sporting activities. Thank you to parents for keeping us informed of student absences; this is crucial to maintaining the safety of all students as much as possible.
We have a planned Student Free Day on Friday, June 24th combined with Jamestown Community School. Staff will share programs and plan common tasks as part of the moderation process. Working on editing and drafting to improve the self-editing process for students will also be undertaken. This links in perfectly with our School Improvement plan to improve students’ writing.
Congratulations to all of the students who continue to make the most of the opportunities provided to them, and thank you to the staff for ensuring these events can happen. When we look at our school calendar, it is quite full of a range of activities.
